Diwali live room ideas: music, stories and company
Plan a Diwali live audio room with music, optional stories and conversation across time zones. Choose a clear topic, check permission for the music you share and welcome people who want to listen or take part.
Pick the time first
The Indian government calendar lists Diwali on 8 November 2026. Regional observances can differ, so confirm the local calendar before you announce a room.
If your friends are in different time zones, offer two slots rather than one: an early evening slot and a late one. Say the time zone every time you mention it. A room that starts when half the guests are asleep is not much of a celebration.
Give people something easy to talk about
The simplest prompts are personal: a favourite childhood memory of the festival, the sweet your family always makes, or the song that means Diwali to you. These invite a story without putting anyone on the spot.
Leave room for people who celebrate differently, or who do not celebrate at all. A good host asks questions out loud and lets people answer when they are ready. Listeners are welcome too.

Do not ask for gifts. People can show appreciation if they want to, but nobody should feel pressure to send anything.
